I readily admit that I have a lot of pet peeves. It comes with the territory when you have a Type A personality. But, one of my biggest pet peeves (at least in the blogging world) is when I receive an email requesting a review where the requester has not bothered to address me by name.
As soon as I see "Dear Blogger," or worse, no salutation at all, my hackles raise and my ire is provoked. It takes a lot---think, a book I'm dying to read---to get me to respond to these types of emails. Sometimes I get so mad that I delete them without any response.
What are your blogging pet peeves?
Haha...I hate Dear Blogger emails. I ignore them. I also hate it when people spell my name wrong - considering that "Alison" is in the title of my blog name. I can understand commenters spelling it wrong, but if you're trying to get me to review your book, you should double check your emails.
ReplyDeleteAlison, I completely agree! My name gets spelling wrong all the time and it drives me nuts!
DeleteO yah I'm not a fan of that either.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I can't think of a pet peeve. I prefer audio reviews say audio in the title and discuss the narrator. Does that count as a blogging peeve?
Not so much a peeve as just a basic requirement, I would think! You are too sweet to get mad about stuff. :)
DeleteI sometimes do the same thing. At first, I would respond to each request, even the mass emailings, with a polite yes or no. But then I got a handful where the author actually addressed me or my blog and had actually gone to my blog and checked it out. Now, I pretty much only respond to those requests.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was the same way, always responding to every email no matter how form/impersonal. Now I just mostly write back to the ones where I can tell they've taken the time to get to know me and my site first!
